Mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning circle. The circle creates a sacred space with a focal point. I love the idea that the mandala represents the infinity of whatever is inside it. In my painting, flowers are within the circle. The figure,, however, is not contained by the mandala, but rather interacts with it through dance. It reminds me a lot of how we approach divinity. Through our dance steps we experience different aspects of God.
